Decorating ...

So for Halloween at work I went all out decorating.

Now that it's Christmas time all I have up for decorations is a Charlie Brown tree and a couple of little holiday signs. Everyone keeps asking me where my decorations are, and I don't think they believe me when I say that I'm done.

But I am. I don't get all into the decorating at work and competing in the decoration contest and all for Christmas. It's just not something that I feel like getting into. Then again, I'm also the one that doesn't want to do a cookie exchange or a secret Santa at the office.

*shrugs*

I don't know ... I'm just not a fan of the event that Christmas has become - and I don't really want to deal with it. It's just gonna be me and my little tree.

Hey, nothing wrong with just you and your little tree. Seems like you have the right idea.

I find that Christmas is what we make it. If we buy into the commercialization of it, then that is what we get out of it - and it is all shallow and fleeting.

I love all the lights, the music, the festivities - but I never let all that detract from what the holiday really means to me.

Seems a bit presumptuous of them to ask. After all, not everyone even celebrates Christmas at all.

Don't get me wrong - I see absolutely nothing wrong with Christmas displays, in fact I love them. But if someone chooses not to go that route, it's their business.

I don't do much at the office either. I tape my Christmas cards to the outside of my door, and that's about it. I probably won't even do that this year...my office is in a hallway that's accessible to students here at the university. None of their business what people write in my cards.

You and your little tree are just fine as they are. :D

My Christmas decorations tend to focus on the "Christ" part - and that's not always welcome in a secular office so it's easier to just leave my stuff at home.
