Of a new laptop and huge external drive! I'm not going to start playing with it till the weekend but it was a great gift to myself today!

And I paid cash ... I feel so grown up ...I've never been able to do that before for a large ticket thing. I usually do 6 months free interest on a store credit card.

Now my savings account ... not quite so pretty anymore.

I got myself a new PC for my birthday too - connected it to my tv and it's just the right size ;)

Course, I also got a new bed.... heh.

Oh there's so much more to that saga. Like then lying and saying they thought it was Sat and had stuff planned for Fri ... nevermind I'm scheduled off for Fri.

(Granted I switched my fri off to mon off today in light of the training stuff...but that has nothing to do with it.)

Moral of the story - my dw friends are much cooler than my coworkers. But I think we already knew that. Hehe.

I can tell one person on my team does feel horrid about it and she called me and told me, and I know she's sincere about feeling bad. The others who went along with whatever email my lead said she'd send ... I have no use for. I'm tempted to post the email ... but for what? Just to show why I'm upset? I think we all know why.

Yeah we know.. Because it sucks to be forgotten and then have them all pretend that they knew all along.

I would have said something sooner to you today had I known before today. But I already told you that. I feel bad enough about that!! I am glad at least one of your co-workers is sincere about it.

That's why I was quick to tell you that I wasn't upset with you. Our lead collects everyone's birthdays and she forgot. As her email said "it fell thorough the cracks." Whatever.

The only online person that I expect to remember it Kathi since it's 3 days after hers.

I'll remember now that I know when it is.. It's the same day as my sister in law's birthday. Last year at this time we weren't really friends like we are now, we knew each other but never really talked. So I might have dropped a HB note out there or maybe not.

Oh I'm currently backing up my old laptop on my obscenely huge external drive. But I don't have time to deal with the laptop right now. Training has me in at work early and everything!

You are also braver than I am.. I am scared to get huge externals like that because I have had a semi-large one fail on me before and I lost everything on it.. So I have a handful of smaller ones that range from 350gigs to 500 gigs.. That is about as brave as I get on those things.

I'm going to keep my smaller one with all my old stuff but I only use them for backup I keep everything on my computer so I never worry about it. I lose stuff it isn't the end of the world. The only things I back up on a zip drive on a regular basic out of fear are unpublished stories. Overall I lose stuff, eh ... I'll survive.

I like my TV shows but I would survive without them if I lost them.. What would really hurt is if I lost all the pictures of the kids I have from digital cameras that aren't printed. That is what I worry most about losing if an external fails.
