Haha, anyway, about the banner: I'm just assuming you'd insert it on a S1, but I'm quite S1-impared. Any suggestions/instructions as to adding a banner and such?
under the "basics" tab choose S2 under the "look and feel" tab choose "Quite Lickable" from the first drop down box then under the "custom options" tab, you'll have a ton of options including colors and banners. you will also have a new row of tabs that say things like "presentation", "color", "images" in the "presentation" tab, it will say "Top heading custom background image" that's where you'll put the url to your banner (i.e. wherever you put it online, like photobucket, etc.) under the "color" tab you can add the colors that match your banner. The easiest way to do this is pick colors from a reference page such as this: http://www.webmonkey.com/webmonkey/reference/color_codes/ and just copy the color codes from there to your color page.
What I like about the "quite lickable" style is that it lets you do a lot to it - without needing to know a lot of coding. Plus if you want to be more advanced there's a place in it for S1 codes - but you can do a lot without them. Using the S1 method can get more specialized results, but it also involved layers and layers of coding - which isn't really the fun part of LJ for most people.

You were so kind yesterday in your help with my writing crisis, and then I checked out your profile and two things jumped out at me: a) the quote from Resonant's "Transfigurations" which is one of my all-time faves and b) the Marie Howe quote, which led me on a 20 minute hunt for my copy of "What the Living Do", which I haven't read in years (but unfortunately I couldn't find it the book). Friending you was kind of a gut instinct after that and I hope it's not unwelcome...
